What’s Going On…

2009 News – 20 Years and Counting!

In March, 1989, Sarah-Chanderia founded Hacate Music, a small, New York-based publishing company originally designed to represent her own music and that of her co-writers. Now, 20 years later, Hacate Entertainment Group (HEG) has grown to represent quality music from literally all over the world.

“I’ve always loved the business side,” says Sarah. “I founded my first publishing company in 1984, but before that I had already been working in a wide range of fields: radio, press, concerts, retail and of course as a writer and artist going back as early as 1978. I was born to be in this business!” Sarah takes from her own experiences and has promised that the company would never offer deals that she, as a writer and artist, would feel uncomfortable signing.

Hacate Music became Hacate Entertainment Group in 1997 when Sarah joined forces with her late partner Ron Kawakami. The company – always conceived to be an international entity – opened anOslo,Norwayoffice in 2001 to better represent music from and toEurope. Not to be left out,Asiahas been a priority since 1995.

What will the next 20 years bring? More great music, more international deals and a continued dedication to fairness and flexibility. “I believe this is a wonderful time to be in the music business,” Sarah enthusiastically states. “Anything is possible!”
