2000

January, 2000

If you’ve gotten this far, you know what a year 1999 was for HEG!  For me it flew by, and looking back on everything that’s happened I understand why I got so little sleep during the year.  No wonder I slept right through New Year’s Eve!

And now I’m ready to take HEG to a whole new level in 2000.  As you can see, the company is making great strides, but nothing would happen without the love and support of every single person mentioned in this, the first of what we plan to be regular newsletters.  There is so much happening that we thought we would put it all down on paper so we can see what we’ve done, and keep all of you informed at the same time.

For those of you who are new to our company, please allow me to fill you in on what we do, and why.   HEG represents the new breed of music company, one that is dedicated to finding and promoting music in its finest form while respecting the basic right of writers and artists to retain control over their work.  We are first and foremost a music publishing company, with both ASCAP (Hacate Music) and BMI (Vinkona Music) affiliates.  We work hard to promote the music entrusted to us in every way possible; from traditional publishing representation throughout the world (including a strong emphasis on synchronization licensing for film and television uses), to seeking licensing and distribution partners for finished masters, to occasionally producing CDs for selected artists.  We are honored to work with the music we represent, and will strive to do so with honesty and integrity.

For those of you who already know HEG, let me say that I look forward to a whole new century of knowing you!  Whether or not we do business together, I value the strong relationships we have built over the years. I encourage you to let me know if there is any thing I can do for you.

And to those of you with whom I have the privilege of working:  Whether you are an artist, with one of our affiliated companies or a member of our staff, I thank you.  You are all parts of a strong and unique mosaic; one that I have the great honor of assembling.  Together, we are creating something beautiful.

What’s Going On…

2009 News – 20 Years and Counting!

In March, 1989, Sarah-Chanderia founded Hacate Music, a small, New York-based publishing company originally designed to represent her own music and that of her co-writers. Now, 20 years later, Hacate Entertainment Group (HEG) has grown to represent quality music from literally all over the world.

“I’ve always loved the business side,” says Sarah. “I founded my first publishing company in 1984, but before that I had already been working in a wide range of fields: radio, press, concerts, retail and of course as a writer and artist going back as early as 1978. I was born to be in this business!” Sarah takes from her own experiences and has promised that the company would never offer deals that she, as a writer and artist, would feel uncomfortable signing.

Hacate Music became Hacate Entertainment Group in 1997 when Sarah joined forces with her late partner Ron Kawakami. The company – always conceived to be an international entity – opened anOslo,Norwayoffice in 2001 to better represent music from and toEurope. Not to be left out,Asiahas been a priority since 1995.

What will the next 20 years bring? More great music, more international deals and a continued dedication to fairness and flexibility. “I believe this is a wonderful time to be in the music business,” Sarah enthusiastically states. “Anything is possible!”
